About The Event

Imbolc Meet Your Belly Day Retreat

Saturday 1st February 2020

Sunrise Yoga, Potterspury

We gather together at this seasonal juncture of Imbolc, the mid-way point between winter solstice and spring equinox, to begin to awaken after the dormancy of winter (learn more about Imbolc here).

This day retreat is co-created with Cherry Jeavons-White and will offer a shared space for us to simply meet our bellies where they are, to share what we have learned so far, and to perhaps rediscover a little more of the magic of your belly.

‘The idea in our culture of body solely as sculpture is wrong. Body is not marble. That is not its purpose. Its purpose is to protect, contain, support, and fire the spirit and soul within it., to be a repository for memory, to fill us with feeling – that is the supreme psychic nourishment. It is to lift us and propel us, to fill us with feeling to prove we exist, that we are here, to give us grounding, heft, weight.’ ~ Clarissa Pinkola Estes

Wild Woman Yoga ~ Replenishing, adaptable, empowering movement, meditation and relaxation practices to facilitate embodiment and connection to the body

Meet your belly workshop ~ A shared space for us to simply meet our bellies where they are, to share what we have learned so far, and to perhaps rediscover a little more of the magic of your belly

Women's circle ~ Down to earth, real talk circles where you can show up exactly as you are always. A 'brave space' to connect to yourself and others, reclaiming community. A women's circle is simple ~ it's a space where we can come and just be. A place to rest, breathe, feel and move. A place to be seen AND heard in a world where women have been taught to be seen and NOT heard

I am trained in Abdominal Sacral Massage and have a passion for all things belly! My dream is a world where all women can let their bellies hang out and be soft if they choose... but it hasn’t always been that way. With a history of disordered eating & body dysmorphia, my journey to loving my belly has been a long path that eventually lead me to abdominal massage and to working with many brave people who wish to embark upon their own journey to re-meet their tummies, reclaim their self-acceptance, and restore the proper functionality of their bellies. Our bellies are our centre, our core, our greatest protectors, and one of the most multifunctional parts of the human body, but learning to love one’s belly is an ongoing journey for many, and a path that is still unfolding with new layers each year even for me. My aim with this workshop is to provide a shared space for us to simply meet our bellies where they are at, to share what we have learned so far, and to perhaps help you rediscover a little more of the magic of your belly.

Abdominal Sacral Massage is massage of the abdomen and sacral (lower back) region which helps to release tension of the muscles and ligaments, encouraging the realignment of the internal organs and allowing them to function optimally. It also aids the release of toxins, gas and stagnant energy, which has been proven to improve digestion and help relieve the symptoms of many causes of pain and discomfort, including bloating, endometriosis, irregular periods, PCOS, fibroids, digestive ailments and more. Working with the intention to simply meet our bellies where they are at, we will work towards a guided self-massage, whilst getting to know more about the incredible work that our bellies do and exploring their role in storing unprocessed emotions, memories and insecurities. We will learn how to find and hold the womb (whether the organ itself is present or not), whilst creating increased energy & blood flow to our whole abdomen and sacral areas through awareness, intention and movement.
