~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Well Woman Yoga:
Well Woman Yoga is an adaptive and feminine approach to yoga practice that seeks to support, nurture and empower women
through all life stages and cycle phases. It promotes inner listening rather than outward seeking. It is about surrendering to your body, moods and emotions and being released from expectations of consistency, predictability and infinite resource. And through this turning inwards for guidance we might experience freedom beyond form and feel empowered to practice in a way that is fluid and adaptable to the waxing and waning of our needs and natures as women.
Style and Approach:
I seek to offer an adaptive, feminine and environmentally aware approach to yoga that awakens the primal knowledge of embodied movement and deep rest. I seek to promote a culture of self-enquiry that harnesses inner listening before outer movement and the cultivation of an unshakeable relationship to the inner teacher, our wild wisdom.
Each practice is guided and informed by the women in the space and each woman is encouraged to explore freedom beyond form and a practice that is fluid and adaptable to the waxing and waning of her very own needs and natures.
Passions:
I am passionate and vocal about the rewilding of nature and of women's bodies and feel strongly about the importance of increasing the visibility of women's cyclical and reproductive lives. Moving from hiding, rejecting, ignoring and shaming to encouraging women to feel empowered, safe and proud to discuss all matters relating to their cyclical and reproductive lives openly and without judgement. This includes offering, promoting and proliferating a feminine and adaptive yoga practice that supports, nurtures and empowers women through all life stages and cycle phases, including those women without a visible monthly cycle.
Who is this class for?
Well Woman Yoga can be particularly beneficial for:
- Exhaustion and burnout
- Women without a monthly cycle or irregular cycles looking to connect back to cyclical/lunar living
- PCOS, fibroids, endometriosis, cysts, period problems, PMS, PMDD and any other women's body issues
- Peri-menopause symptoms
- Menopause and beyond
- Difficulty conceiving/fertility issues
- Pregnancy (after 14 weeks is generally recommended)
- Low libido/intimacy issues
- Boosting creativity
- Boosting energy levels and feelings of well being
- Any person who identifies as a woman seeking to harness their feminine energy
- Chronic pain and chronic illness (less weight bearing and lots of restful aspects)
My aim is that this class offers a practice that takes care of women's bodies of all ages and at all life stages and cycle phases and is open to women of all levels of yoga experience including total beginners.
Cyclical living is not just the remit of bleeding women. With or without a visible monthly cycle, cyclical living is crucial to our mental, physical and emotional health.
We were not designed to continue non-stop until we crash, the body has many inbuilt systems luring us to rest, many of which we have learned or been encouraged to ignore and suppress. For some women that is menstruation but regardless of our experience we are all still cyclical creatures and as such it’s so important to find ways to reconnect to cyclical living so that the body and mind get some regular downtime.
