Gathering together reclaim our wild and cyclical ways ♥

Taking time to honour and celebrate the turning points of the wheel of the year is a way to deepen our connection to the rhythms of nature and of our bodies.

Samhain invites us to honour and remember what has been and those that have come before us as we delve into the darker half of the year. An invitation to drop that last autumn leaf and settle under our blankets like bulbs beneath snow for winter.

During this spacious and restful Patron only online cacao ceremony and circle we will explore the themes of surrender and renewal, rest and rhythm and the life death life cycle leaning into the support of cacao as we dive in (you are welcome to join without ingesting cacao).

About Samhain:

Samhain is an ancient Gaelic festival, sometimes called the Witches New Year, and marks the end of the harvest season and the beginning of winter. Celebrates begin on 31st October and continue until 1st November as the Celtic day started and ended at sunset. This seasonal juncture is about halfway between the Autumn Equinox and the Winter Solstice.

Contraindications and notes:

  • Cacao is not suitable for those taking anti-depressions which use MAO inhibitors (apparently this isn't very common these days but it's worth checking)
  • Cacao is not suitable for those with serious heart conditions (increases heart rate and is a vasodilator)
  • If you are low body weight, pregnant or breast feeding a smaller dose is advised (lower dose/1oz)
  • Please note cacao can be a laxative and it is also a mild stimulant, so if you have trouble sleeping you can either not take the cacao or ensure you dilute with plenty of water when you get home - the main effects should have passed within 4 hours of ingesting
  • Cacao is self-regulating and you will know when you've had enough
  • The effects of cacao are increased if you have fasted or eaten lightly in the hours leading up to ingesting it and if you have abstained from stimulants for a couple of days but this is not essential
