About The Event

Wild Well Woman Yoga and Yoga Nidra

Honouring our Wild and Cyclical Nature

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Well Woman inspired wild yoga to nurture, support and nourish our bodies at all ages, life stages and cycle phases.
Reconnecting to the primal knowledge of fluid power and deep rest
Reclaiming our animal body
Restoring our wild nature
Wild Well Woman Yoga takes Well Woman Yoga into nature. This is an intuitive, feminine and environmentally aware approach to yoga that awakens the primal knowledge of fluid power and deep rest. It is about surrendering to the flow and being released from expectations of consistency, predictability and infinite resource. It is here that we experience freedom beyond form and are empowered to practice in a way that is fluid and adaptable to the waxing and waning of our needs and natures.
We will close our practice with a yoga nidra ~ a practice of deep rest to restore our energy and encounter our wild nature with profound presence and ease.
‘The body is like an earth. It is a land unto itself. It is as vulnerable to overbuilding, being carved into parcels, cut off, over mined, and shorn of its power as any landscape. The wilder woman will not be easily swayed by redevelopment schemes. For her, the questions are not how to form but how to feel.’ ~ Clarissa Pinkola Estés
INCLUSIVITY POLICY AND CYCLICAL WORK WITHOUT A CYCLE
These gatherings are open to women of all ages and life stages
In times past we would have shared so much more of life with each other than we do now and this would have included the raising of children. They would have been welcomed into the lodge and raised communally, garnering the invaluable knowledge and wisdom of the ebb and flow of all things. This inclusive and open environment is crucially important to the rewilding of life and as such our retreat is open to women of all ages, circumstances and life stages.
Whether pregnant, lactating, with nurturing small babies or children, with or without a womb, working with a monthly bleed or not, peri-menopausal, menopausal or in the wisdom years, all women are welcomed.
We all have our own unique wisdom to bring and stories to tell. This passing down of wisdom through the generations is an ancient practice without which we suffer. The reinstatement of the inclusive nature of moon lodges and gatherings provides an invaluable space of healing, learning, nurturing, retreat and replenishment. The pace of our modern lives means that creating this space that is more crucial and essential to our wellbeing than ever before.
If you are bringing children or babies we just ask that you are happy to be fully responsible for them at all times, to understand what that means in terms of your participation and to ensure they are kept safe.
Women only
Creating a space where women feel fully heard, felt and held is our aim for these circles. Many women have experienced suffering in some way, be that mentally, physically, sexually or all of these. We feel it is crucially important to have this safe space to explore the regaining of trust in our bodies, minds and emotions. It is for this reason that our retreats and gatherings are women only. We do not wish to exclude, accuse or demonise men in any way shape or form, we are just coming together in the sacred space of our sisterhood to relearn how to trust and love, so that we might be better able to trust and love in our own intimate relationships, families and friendships.
CYCLICAL WORK WITHOUT A CYCLE
Some of our work refers to the monthly menstrual cycle but this does not and should not exclude women without a monthly bleed, we are all cyclical beings with or without a visible inner rhythm.
Working without a monthly bleed
This circle is open to all women whether bleeding or not. If you are not currently working with a monthly bleed then your connection to the moon grows ever stronger as you look to the skies to guide you.
Wisdom years
If peri-menopausal, menopausal or in the wisdom years then you may have a life of cyclical wisdom to share with us and we welcome your wild wisdom. You also become an expert of the inner autumn, often one of the most challenging seasons for many women and so your wisdom on this is also hugely welcomed. This work can also help to retrospectively shed light on a life of cycles.
Irregular cycle
If your cycle is irregular, know that often there is a larger cycle within that. Charting and tracking can help because as you begin to know when you ovulate it can then often be possible to count forwards to your bleed as the luteal phase (post-ovulatory phase) is generally the most consistent phase in terms of duration. Irregular cycles can often be a blessing in disguise as we are unable to track and chart from within the confines a steady structure and must learn instead to surrender to the unpredictability, which requires an even closer, more attentive inner listening. Often all we have to go on are our moods, tendencies and inner atmosphere to decipher where we might be. This is the ultimate training ground for surrendering to the unknown.
Menstrual cycle awareness is just as valuable for those with irregular cycles and in fact the very act of paying close attention and honouring and accepting the cycle can sometimes coax it back to some form of regularity or help us to understand that we are transitioning towards menopause.
Hormonal contraception
There are lots of incredibly valid reasons for needing/wanting hormonal contraception so please know that this should never exclude you from participating in menstruality work. All women are welcome in these circles. Hormonal contraception does however interrupt the natural cycles and can cut you off from the depth of emotion that arises through a monthly bleed, which can make it difficult to differentiate between inner seasons but just as the women not currently working with a bleed, your connection to the moon grows stronger as you look to the skies to guide you. You may also still feel the faint and distant call of your cycle.
